Seán draws on more than 30 years of experience in the global institutional investment markets on the design, structuring and placement of innovative ESG-aligned financing structures and strategies. His consulting work focuses on helping companies develop and communicate sustainable growth initiatives which are responsive to institutional investor preferences.

He is a Senior Advisor to the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) for the treasury investment management strategy and oversight. He was previously appointed as Senior Advisor to the World Bank Group’s International Finance Corporation (IFC), where he was instrumental in the development and implementation of what ultimately became the Amundi Planet Emerging Green One (EGO) Fund. He has advised the UN Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the International Renewable Energy Association (IRENA) on strategies designed to crowd-in institutional investment. He was appointed to the Consultative Working Group for the Financial Innovation Standing Committee of the European Securities Market Association (ESMA) where he served four terms.

Mr. Flannery previously was an Executive Vice President of State Street corporation and CIO, Americas of State Street Global Advisors, where he was responsible for over US$2 trillion in global assets under management. He was a member of the Investment, Proxy and Asset/Liability Management committees. He also serves as Executive Vice Chair of Corporate Knights in Toronto, Canada. Mr. Flannery has a BA in Economics from the George Washington University, and is a Fellow of the Harvard Weatherhead Center for International Affairs (in residence 2009-10).

Mr. Flannery hold U.S. and Irish citizenship.
